Shoaib Mansoor

Shoaib Mansoor , the Pakistani director , might be famous in India for his recent movies Bol & Khuda Ke Liye but to know this man's genius one has to go deep into his career to his earlier days when he used to direct TV series for PTV . SHOMAN as he is famously called (also initials of his name ) , his work truly deserves that status . I recently saw his earlier works like sunhere din , a TV series , storyline similar to hindi movie Lakshya . It was a wonderful 280 minutes series . Made with such honesty & sincerity . Then is his series Alpha bravo charlie another very well written & well shot series . If you are a punjabi on Indian side do watch these , you might have never seen this before .Check out the videos on Youtube

luttna

log chiraag jalate ghee ke , maine dil ka deep jalaya
log hai khaate kasam vafa ke , main zeher hijre ka khaya
log gawande dil ishq main , maine apna aap gavaya
fir bhi mera kuj na haye , mere sohne yaar ko bhaaya

je main nadiya tan tu pani , main tan bin tere sukk jana
je tu paani tan main piyasi , main tan bin tere mukk jana

dil da lagna , agg da lagna yaara sab kuj hai jal jaana
na tu dhuya , na chingari yahan kuj bhi nazar na aana
aaja khele khel vafa ka , ye khel hai bahut purana
ya tu mera ya main teri , chaukhat par mar jaana

Seeking for the Past

I like to chat with my grand parents as all of us do . But what i like the most is the discussions we have on comparing times as how they were better or worse  than before . They both were from very fortunate families . My grandma's father was a very rich man . He used to travel (around 1930's) all over northern India . He was a big businessman supplying to the India military. My grandma's tells me about her trips to Lahore where her mamaji lived . He used to have a grocery shop in famous Anarkali Bazaar . According to her Lahore is the most beautiful city she had ever seen . The prosperity , the greenery , the Lawrence gardens .She uttered on the partition  ... haye lahore , mera lahore . Her family belonged to Ferozepur (India , Punjab) which was on the Railway line connecting Karachi to Delhi . As it is a well known fact that Karachi was the biggest port at that time (Pre- partition days ) & Delhi the capital of British Raj . So the city of Ferozepure was a place of rest & change of railway lines . The most cherished memories of her is visiting Quetta . Currently the city is under bloodshed & violence but she remembers it as a lovely , peaceful city . The city was famous for Kandhari Anar & Black grapes . She nums when she remembers those days . She says those were better than now . Life was slow but good .
